“We where 10 persons who visit Dublin, a very nice old town. We visit Guinness, Jameson, Church, The Book of Kells, 24 hours city tour ticket and The Temple bar. At the hotel we need a room where we could stay all together, because the room where very small. It was very nice to stay in the middle of Dublin we could walk to every place.

“I have travelled extensively around the world and have stayed in some rather low budget accomodation, but this place by far had the worst bed I have ever slept in. I had to sleep on top of the duvet cover because the springs were jabbing me in the ribs. It was really unacceptable especially considering I paid over 150 Euros to stay on a Sat. and Sun. nights!

“The web site makes it sound much different and much better than the reality. The actual place is not recognizable from the web site description! For 110 Euros per night -- it was ATROCIOUS!

“While this B&B has a fabulous location, they have not yet finished renovating, and it was pretty ugly. Further, they have the largest dustballs i have ever seen, and the view outside my window was a literal dump from the renovations. The best part was the location, and the price isn't terrible if enough people stay with you. However, the porters are quite unpleasant about bring people back, so watch out.

“I would just like to say the staff at the Adelphi Guesthouse was very welcoming. We went in a group of 4 and stayed in a quad room with our own bathroom. We had a brilliant girly weekend and would just like to say thankyou to all the staff at the Adelphi as nothing was to much trouble for them. Thanks again.

“Your website booking system was extremely frustrating! Despite the fact that I had selected one person, I was given a whole list of propterties that did not have a single person tarrif. The on-screen confirmation was a total mix-up and I was "told" that the cost was GBP86! I showed this to the Adelphi and they were confused too. They very kindly printed out a statment of my account which was (thankfully) quite a lot less and what I had expected. If your system can't cope with currencies other than that of the country of the hotel, maybe you should stick to just that one and perhaps have a currency converter elsewhere for checking purposes.

“I was asked to pay a further 10 euro for car parking which I refused. There was a sign to say that the guest house was being refurbished,it looked like it had been there for years!!No tea/coffee making facilities. The twin room was really only big enough for a single, and a small one at that.Check in was 12,our room wasnt ready until nearly 2!Very disappointed, not sure I would consider using your website again.

“The road it is on is very noisey all times of the day and night but it is in the heart of the city centre, it could have done with secondary glazing. But Dublin is a very active city and I think you would find it difficult to find a quite street so close to the city centre.

“The room that we stayed in (38) had a dripping tap, a hole in the ceiling and the pipes from the room above us, although boxed off, ran through our room and everytime the guests above us went to the toilet the pipes gave off the most awful noise. Also the guesthouse had renovations going on, it would have been polite to ensure that we knew this before we arrived. To add to our discomfort we also had noisy guests in the room next to us, they were chatting above the noise of the television till gone 1am and then started chatting loudly again at 5am. I do not complain as a rule (which is why I never complained to the guest house during the night about this) but we were thoroughly disappointed in the Adelphi. We usually stay in a hostel in Dublin and the standard of the hostel we usually stay in is much higher. In the future I think we may go back to using hostels.

“We very much enjoyed our stay at the Adelphi Guesthouse, everyone was very friendly and extremely welcoming. The room was very nice, spacious, clean with a very nice en-suite. We very much enjoyed our 4 day stay there and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking of staying in Dublin. Thanks for everything best wishes Jen and Pete.

“The only downsides were. The ongoing refurbishment was not mentioned during booking, but did not cause any problem to us on our visit fortunately. The lack of private parking space outside the hotel, an alternative was available 2 minute walk away at an additional cost. Tom the owner was very pleasant, he spent alot of his time greeting & talking to his guests, he was a very welcoming and friendly owner of the hotel. The location is idle for the shops, pubs, eating etc... But the traffic jams!!!!Don't drive around Dublin its worse than Manchester!-( Next time we come we wont bother with a car, the Bus & Luas(trams) services are very frequent! See you again Tom! Thanks!

“It was a nice plce in a good location. The only thing we didn't like was after the 12 hours journey by ferry turning up on the door step to be asked for imediate full payment. It wasn't the best welcome ever. Needless to say we asked to see the room to which the guy obliged and then we paid about 2 hours later.

“On arrival I found the guesthouse to be under construction. This was the first that I had heard of this and prior knowledge of this would have been appreciated. The rooms presentation was OK. However, we did find that the room had not been swept before we had arrived, as well as someone else's airport tags under the beds. Not a great way to find a room.

“If it was my B&B I would've discounted the rate by 10% as there were extensive repairs underway( no carpets in the hallways, the lounge is the office), quite a bit of dust, otherwise the staff were friendly, the rooms comfy, the breakfast stunning, although yoghurts would've been a bonus and the location very central. By introducing themselves to you by name the owners would make you feel more welcome. No intros were forth coming until I did so at check-out.

“Once renovation is complete with bar and restsurant, Adelphi Guesthouse will be the place to stay in Dublin, no doubt.

“it was a very clean place to stay, only down fall was there were no tea making facilities in the room and we had to go out and by a hot drink everytime we required one.

“Guesthouse is in the process of enlargement, so for the amount of rooms the dining area is far too small, causing some long waits at breakfast. Initial mixup on arrival caused us to have a twin room instead of a double which was a pain but was resolved the following day. Overall not bad and an ideal location for a short break
Stayed: Overall rating: 23 April, 2006 4/5
“no tea making facilities in room ,no early breakfast but o.k. for the price

“We stayed as a family of four. My parents (in their 60's) and my brother and I (23 and 25 years old). We had a delightful time. The staff are very accomidating. Breakfast is quite filling! The building is beautiful. All rooms have been renovated and they are working to finish renovating the lounge areas. The staff helped us find our way around dublin - suggesting pubs, helping with taxi's, etc... Also noticed that the staff were very kind to other visitors as well. Will stay here again in a heart beat!

“Room was still in development no television, tea or coffee facilities, no carpets in communal areas, mirror was resting on the sink, no glass for dental use or complemenatry toiletries to ensuite. Window to street in room was unlockable. This accomodation was not as described on the web.

“first room we were shown was morbidly depressing so asked for a different room which was allot nicer until you take a look out of the rear window which was a building then tv did not work after asking 3 times to be replaced then got moved to another roon which again was ok and this time around they did give us a small discount. but all in all it was a pleasent stay and very good breakfast.

“Was a shame the room hadnt actually been finished being built!!! would have been lovely but only one mirror in whole room for four girls and wall lightings were not yet fitted.

“We were extremely happy with the service, friendliness, helpfulness, and location of the Adelphi Guesthouse. The room was very nice, clean, breakfast was good, and staff were attentive and friendly. As one example, if we came back with a bottle of wine in the evening, they readily loaned glasses and a corkscrew. The Adelphi Guesthouse was a very convenient 3.5 Euro ride in from the airport and immediately convenient to the Central Bus station (for trips outside of Dublin) and a ready walk to all interesting sites in/around the City. Glesnevin Cemetery was a bit of a hike, but well worth it and readily available by bus for any who don't wish to walk it.

“the food was not presented very well and the staff stayed in the dining room waiting for you to finish, also when the tables where cleared the plates where emptied into a bin in the same room there where no tea/coffee making facilities in the room in the en-suite in order to go from the shower to the toilet you had to open the door

“This is a very good choice for adults and is situated within easy reach of the station, the shops and also Temple Bar. The staff were friendly and although quite small, the rooms had everything required of them and were very comfortable. I would definately stay in the Adelphi again.

“Breakfast wasn't very good. They advertise that they cater for various needs but being veggie I got nothing other than cold beans and egg!
Stayed: Overall rating: 31 October, 2005 4/5
“Room was way too hot, radiator was on all night and although we turned it down, it came on again and the room was a sauna. Also the TV remote was not available and not provided although we asked for it.

“our stay at the adelphi was excellant. the staff were very helpful, the rooms very clean. would most definately stay again and would recommend as a ideal base for a stay in dublin.

“the property and staff were wonderful. location is excellent as it is around the corner from the bus station where you catch the bus from/to the airport. beds clean and very comfortable, irish breakfast excellent, staff very courteous. the only two complaints were that there was construction going on from 7 am behind the building, also the train runs 1/2 block away, so a bit noisy -- otherwise excellent.
Stayed: Overall rating: 22 September, 2005 5/5
“The room and bathroom, were clean, OK, if small. The building is falling apart and dirty. The staff person that first greeted us at the door, asked for payment in cash, before seeing the room, or even welcoming us to the place. The neighborhood is a bit grim, but close to everything. I would NOT recommend anyone go there.
Stayed: Overall rating: 7 August, 2005 2/5
“Our ratings would have been higherif we had not been placed in unfinished roomsegafilm of plaster in the air(and on the floor),no wardrobe or television.Whilst we were offered a move the next day ,this caused inconvenience. Whilst the ratefor the roomwas adjusted ,this spoilt the hoilday somewhat.I'm sure the hotel will be lovely when the refurbishments are finished .The breakfats weregood but abit more variety would have been appreciated.
