Park View House Hotel

“This place got some terrible reviews. I can't understand why. It was clean, the beds were comfortable the breakfast was a choice of six cereals with fruit juces and fresh fruit, yoghurt, two types of croissant and toast and tea or coffee. While I was there I heard one man complaining about a tepid shower and this was checked out within the hour. The hotel was undergoing some renovation and I can only suppose this upset some "bugs" and that's where the bad review came from. I am terrified of spiders etc. and I have to say I didn't encounter one bug of any description when I stayed there. The manager was extremely friendly. It was basic, comfortable accommodation at a reasonable price.

“The beds were very good. The room was pover but clean. Management was helpfull.Breakfast only untill 08.30h. Busstop in front of the house.A good place to start the visit of Edinborough.

“Not again, dirty room & some bugs in the bed/room. We did spend just one night there & i had over 100 bites on my arms & legs. 140 Pounds (3 people) for this hole. We have booked it in advance for 80 pounds, at the door was 140 for us and the reservation not more valid.

“Our room was so small that we can't move in it and also the bathroom was very small. When someone left the house, our bed was moving and the doors shut with a great bang.

“The breakfast was late 2 of 4 mornings, we had to sit and wait for at least 15-20 minutes.

“On checking in at the hotel we were directed to our room, which was not part of the main hotel but in a one story annex next door that must have cost at least £1.50 to build. No towels were provided, the room was not cleaned to any noticeable degree. The room was expensive (but that may have more to do with the festival). Two positives, good park parking facilities and an acceptable breakfast.

“rooms a bit smelly with dampness, toast had blue mould on it and when this was pointed out to waiter he said'right' ,scrambled egg had egg shells in it.After breakfast we all left very promply. We would never go back to this hotel again and would not recommend it to anyone!

“Very cold inadequate heating for room,radiator too small,single glazed laminate flooring,no heating in bathroom.Some bed linen cigarette burns,bathroom"hairy".Stayed only 1 night of 3 booked.Breakfast 7-8.30am too early.Should be more versatile for people on hols.Put my sister and I in room with 4 poster net curtains etc only 1 bed made up originally room booked for 2 women!!

“Excellent accomodation. Just had one small problem, that the shower was freezing on the saturday night. Other than that was more than happy, especially with the lovely breakfast.

“Unfortunately, I can't comment on Park View as they double booked us and we were shuffled down the road to another hotel. I wasn't very happy as this hotel, although the couple were very pleasant, was not the same standard we had booked. The rooms were very basic and cleanliness not great. However, we were charged the same amount. This was not a great start to our weekend away, but we made the best of it. So my ratings DO NOT apply to Park View as I didn't get past the front door.

“Very unimpressed. Staff seem lowly paid. Outside the view is good, inside very poor. I would sooner stay at a Travel Lodge, and its cheaper.

“Note, this accomocation is 50 mins walk from Princes Street, not 15 mins as advertsied.
