The staff was very friendly (they were nice enough to make a phone call on our behalf) and the rooms were excellent! Thanks for the private lights and the mirror in the shared bedroom! We will certainly recommend this hostel to our friends.

Excellent facilities at Khaosan Original and we loved the free internet! So generous compared to every other hostel we stayed at :-)

Nationality Stayed Gender Age Group Overall Rating Australia 5th November 2008 Couple 18-24 4/5 Comments: the private rooms are tiny but it doesent matter at all there is a wonderfull rooftop with a magnificent view which is nice to relax on. this hostel is much more quiet and private rather then a partying hostel all the time. the staff speak perfect english and are amazingly friendly. the hostel is a short maybe 15 minute walk to ueno station whcih is perfect location. i would definatley stay here again without fail amazing hostel so friendly clean close.

Really homely with a kitchen to cook your own food which is a bonus when it\'s so expensive in Tokyo. The rooms are quite small but manageable. It\'s great value for money and it is litterally 1 minute from the subway. Great place to stay

The staff were unfriendly and only bothered to look up from the TV or coffee if we stood in front of them and talked to them. The only time, the staff were happy to see us was when they took our money. There was free internet, however the internet room was unheated and freezing. The shower room was pathetic and you had to press the shower button once every 2-3 seconds to keep the water flowing, the walls were paper thin and we could hear EVERYTHING going on in the toilet next door. The toilet was VERY small and your knees touched the walls when you sat on it, the beds were uncomfortable and felt flimsy; to cap it off someone stole my umbrella.

Location is a bit out of the way if you plan to hang out Shibuya/Roppongi. But otherwise, a nice hostel with very helpful and patient staff!
