'Correct hostel with kitchen and a confortable common room, but is not so a very funny place, normal level.'
Spain, Mixed Group, 18th Nov 2008
The Brewery Hostel, once a public library opened in 1884, was one of the several houses in the street where Lord Edward was hidden after the collapse of the insurrection by the united Irishmen (of which he was one of the leaders). Lord Edward was later shot when major Sir fired his pistol. He was brought to new gate goal, where he died.
Over the years members of the library staff on winter evenings had heard strange noises on the upper floor 'Lord Edward is walking again' they would say and no one dared go up…now in 2008, we are a buzzing hostel, and hostel staff have yet to hear the foot steps of Lord Edward (let us know if you do!)

All of our private and dorm rooms are en-suite. Bed linen is supplied.

We offer a free breakfast every morning of cereal, toast, jam, coffee and tea.

We also have a lockup behind the 24 hour reception for valuables and such. We are more than happy to help you with local knowledge, booking tours or advise you on the best ways to find work!

You can relax in our spacious TV/common room or if the weather permits, out in our garden courtyard.

The hostel is in walking distance from a number of Dublin's most popular tourist attractions...The Guinness Storehouse, Temple Bar, Vicar Street, Kilmainham Goal, City Centre, Irish Museum of Modern Art, The Brazen Head and the Old Jameson Distillery.
