Comments: Divided in two yards 5minutes away (walking) from each other, which is not convenient. In the west yard, we have to go out to go to the bathroom, and in winter it's really cold. The prices of the trip are really expensive compared to what you pay if you go by yourself.

Comments: A bit far from subway, but its away from all the noise of downtown. Busses go near, but those are slow. Staff was friendly, good place to stay.

Comments: Lovely hostel, We liked the area it was in as had great street food in the alleys around. 10 minutes to tube but are buses. Handy for bus to Badling to see the wall as just round corner from tube.

Comments: Was really good to stay in a Hutong, can\'t really get any more character than that. It is however a long walk from the subway and quite a bit out of the centre. Nice atmosphere with the central area and TV room.

Comments: One of the best hostels I have stayed at; fantastic character, very homely relaxing environment, and incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Travelling solo, was also easy to meet and socialise with other travellers. Pity about the 15min walk from the subway, but as I dont mind the walk, it was only a real problem when I had all of my luggage with me. Also, the internet was often very slow. All in all though, definitely worth the stay, and will be back one day when I revisit Beijing, I'm sure!

Comments: Great atmosphere! It\'s situated in a Hutong and hence a very interesting experience to live there because you will feel very close how the Chinese live. The decoration of the court is really nice and you will feel like being in former Beijing! The only negative point: in winter the common room is quite cold, but there is adequate heating in the rooms.

Comments: Nihao ! Everything, ESPECIALLY THE KITCHEN, was a bit better than I had anticipated ... WHY breakfast is costier that a DINNER is an oddity ? Also THE EASTERN YARD was a bit hard to FIND AFTER THE SUNSET - more LIGHTS outside the building + in the yard ?!? All the ladies working there were very FRIENDLY - a bit more English maybe ?? Best regards ! Carita Pettersson Finland Ps. I am retired from the Finnish airline, FINNAIR, and have AN EXPERIENCE of travelling VERY globally for 45 years ....

Comments: have more lights guiding to the room. we were in the east house and it was a little dark and scary to have to go to our room at night in the alleys.

Comments: My Husband and I were there for 3 nights in a double. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The place was clean and located in a hutong which we enjoyed walking around. We went on the Great Wall tour (Mutianyu) and the driver was fantastic! We are vegetarians and he took great care of us when it came to the meals. I would definitely recommend this place to others.

Comments: Helpful staff in booking side trips, only complaint was poor water pressure in the shower and only lukewarm temperature which was annoying since it was February and really cold. Would stay again for sure though.

Comments: Our first hostel in China and we were very pleased with the service -very helpful staff. the location is good, it was so easy to catch the number 22 or 840 buses to the main sights -very regular. only downside was no heating, could have done with it...if only in the common area,as went in oct, when it was starting to get colder!

Comments: This place is exactly what you would expect from a chineese hostel, with an interior court yard, red lanterns everywhere, a fish pound and hot water for tea available 24/24. The rooms and the washroom are really clean, being washed many times per day. It is located in a more authentic hutong. You need to be able to work with the local transport to go around as every attraction is too far to walk.

Comments: We just stayed there the night, but have enjoyed this place twice as we have pasted through. The location is good, but will take some time to get to any attractions. Overall a great inexpensive place to stay. We will definitely stay here again. My wife and twin baby girls were with us if that helps any body picture our traveling situation.

Comments: Fab hostel, easy to get to city centre but to be honest there is most stuff you need and loads of character in the hutongs around where it is. The staff are awesome, really helpful and go out of their way to make your stay good.

Comments: Great place to stay. The staff is crazy-accommodating to westerners. The only bad thing here is the 15 minute walk to the subway.

Comments: I stayed at the western site of the Red Lantern House. I was quite displeased with the location of my room as it was next to the common area. To sleep at night I had to use ear plugs. Overall, I was not impressed and I wished I would have looked around more before I made my reservations at this hostel. The one positive thing of the hotel is the common area. I was able to meet many people and thus I had traveling companions throughout the week to make my time more enjoyable as a single traveler.

Comments: they blare music in the evenings, which can be annoying in rooms right off the common room; however, they do try to accommodate western tastes with their menus

Comments: Could have done with having some sort of mop in the bathroom as i took along time for it to dry after showering. A few more places to hang clothed would be useful
