The building is in the red light district, but it's a very safe neighbourhood, with families walking around with children even at night. I did not feel unsafe or at all, and the security at the hostal is excellent. The location is one of the best features - it is in the middle of everything. The hotel staff are excellent. The rooms are simple and clean. My only complaint would be that my room smelled quite strongly of smoke.

Do not stay here if you are planning on being rowdy - it is more a hotel filled with families and older people. There is a hostel in the same building, with a bar on the third floor. If you are looking for a quiet place to sleep, this is good for that - but if you are looking for fun then you may want to stay someplace else. For our purposes, the hotel was tops!

So I did not actually stay in the hostal I had booked. I think I should have received that information in advance.

There is a lot of prostitution in this neighborhood, but it wasn't a problem for us, we felt safe.

The location was perfect, the place clean and tided every single day :) However, if you are looking for really silent nights, i guess it\'s impossible, cause Grand Via pretty noisy and crowded street. I will definitely stay in this hostal during my next visit ;)

Only downfall was that it is located on a street where the prostitutes operate. However, they never bothered us once and the hotel was so close to Puerta del Sol that we didn't care.

This turned out to be a good thing since some of the other hostel employees had a better command of English, and were able to answer questions. However, YOU HAVE TO NOTE THAT THIS HOSTEL IS LOCATED IN THE REDLIGHT DISTRICT OF MADRID. Seriously. Maybe 50 prostitutes lining the street. Some warning would have been nice.

Room is cleaned daily and you are given clean towels. Also had a great view! Amazing location, at the centre of Nadrid, everything was just a short walk away. Would definitely stay here again.

The place is modern, rooms are clean, staff is kind and location is perfect. Also I think the value of the hostal is higher than its price. I raccomend it to all the young travellers who are looking for a cheap accomodation without renouncing to a complete comfort. A brief message to italian travellers: non so se l'hostal sia stato ristrutturato di recente, ma davvero non capisco come possano circolare in rete commenti negativi su questo posto. Noi ci siamo trovati benissimo!

Just one thing, which you have to consider: the hotel is located at c/Montera, which is the prostitute street of Madrid. So you are confronted with this miserable side of life (and with the ever-present police car there), though they don\'t offend you (at least not verbally).
