I guess this happens regularly, as when I was sent downstairs to the Hostal Santa Cruz where the lovely man on the desk seemed to be familiar with this kind of thing. Santa Cruz was very clean and quiet, I can't really comment on Cruz Sol as I didn't actually stay there.

The hostal is in a fantastic location, practically in Puerta del Sol, but in a very nice Plaza that wasn't too loud at night. It was very clean. Great place to stay, you'll spend slightly more, but the rooms are quite nice.

Y tuvimos problemas con los dos. Nos pusieron en una habitacion que no lograba alcanzar la coneccion a la red y tampoco lograban encontrar un cable LAN. Mientras el lunes por la manana nos despertamos con el ruido de obras con martillo neumatico durante horas y horas. No nos habian informado de las obras y el ruido era muy muy molesto. Desafortunadamente poco serios.

Till alla er svenskar som funderar på att åka hit, detta hostel var mycket prisvärt, rent o snyggt och gångavstånd till centrum. Man får priset av ett hostel och kvalitén av ett billigare hotell. It was just like staying in a hotel - highly recommended

It would be great if there was a kettle or somewhere you could get hot water for a cuppa (I know there´s fantastic coffee everywhere in Madrid but sometimes you just need a cup of tea!).
