Most of the noise seemed to be created by cleaning staff. the air conditioning in the room was turned off for most of the night/morning, leaving the room uncomfortably warm. Furthermore, most of the time, there seemed to be music being piped into the room from somewhere. It was only just audible, but still irritating in the quiet of the night.

Doors banging throughout the night and noise in the corridors. The single room was also very cramped and their idea of air conditioning was a fan!. When I went back to book an additional night (my flight home was changed) they charged me 80 euros for the Saturday night (45 euros for Fri night) and said the Trav special price was no longer available (although it was still showing on your website!).

The staff is friendly and very helpful. Enrique at the front desk even made us late night ham and cheese grilled sandwiches, a real treat. The rooms are clean with nice balconies and marble floors. The bathrooms are great and very clean. This centrally located hostel is a must when in madrid.

I spoke to the desk advising I was canceling my last night booked. One person advised yes and so I thought that was it, though later they advised I had to cancel via the website. After they told me i needed to cancel 48 hrs out. They were rude and were not listening to what I had to say. it seemed money was more important than customers. Thought location is great their attitude was crap.

The old pipes sound so loud anytime someone in the hotel uses any kind of water. I could not sleep since I was woken up all night long. Also, you can hear all your neighbors and people on the stairs.

Then 3 things made us change our minds. First, the day after arrival, we were asked to switch rooms, and we didn't get to see the new room before moving in, because it was being cleaned at the time. The room was much smaller and had the toilet in the bedroom. Second, I accidentily lost a cardigan out of the window (I was airing it to remove cigarettesmell), down on a square which was surrounded by the hostel's rooms, but guests couldn't go out there. They never found the cardigan, which I think is very weird. Third, in a stressful situation when leaving for the airport, we didn't look close enough at the receipt before paying. Afterwards we saw that the 37 euros that we paid when we booked, wasn't counted in, so that we paid it twice. Several other things, like bad english and loud construction sounds at nine am, was also part of a bad hostel experience, in a great city though!
