Basically a converted house, with the owner living in a caravan outside. Right next to a beautiful beach. There is also a bar 1min down the road that is happening of a saturday night.

It's nice and friendly, located just 1' walk from the beach, 5' from a Spar with ATM machine, and, even better, there's a pub/restaurant just opposite side of the street where food & service are excellent, with live music on Sat and Sun. Next door is another pub, a bit more crowded, with live music too. Despite them being next to the hostel, you don't hear the noise so can have a nice sleep. Carrowmore & Knockarea (megalithic tombs) are just nearby, you could even walk there from Strandhill. Sligo is only 10km far, so it's really a handy place to stay if you need a base from which travelling around the county.

The beds are attractive wood bunks, not institutional metal bunks, so they don't creak when you lay on them. It's located in Strandhill, about 8 km from Sligo, so it is a great place to get away from crowds. Sligo is accessible by bus. The staff is friendly yet keeps to themselves. The door is open 24/7, and there are no lockers, but it is in a small village, so security concerns are reduced. Food leftover from past visitors is placed in a free food cabinet and refrigerator, which I appreciated. And the hostel is very clean.

Easy to find and rooms and facilities were good. No onsite staff so had to wait some time before booking in, that was the only gripe.
