Comments: If I'd have gotten a real door like all the other rooms had maybe the cockroach in my room could've been avoided.

Comments: The rooms are small, but it's cheap so that's ok. Beware the beds are just rolled up mattresses on the floor. They are very hard, so are the pillows. I reccomend bringing your own pillow if you like them soft.

Comments: Great place. I liked the traditional Japanese rooms and the staff was very helpful. Location was a bit far from some of the sights, but was it quiet and had more locals than tourists. Besides, the train system is great and can get you anywhere!

Comments: An okay hostel, but you have to be inside before 12 or they lock the door. Also the owner isn't fond of people making noise after 12.

Comments: Quiet and clean. not a lot of help from hosts, they check you in, give you key and thats it. Not a great area, far from city and if you are after fun dont go here, no air conditioner though it was advertised!!

| Comments: Hotel New Azuma in Tokyo was the best hostel I've stayed in. The location was easily accessed by the Tokyo metro and I never had difficulty finding my way around.
The rooms are simple. I found many of the other travelers were repeat visitors. On my next trip to Japan, I, too, will be a repeat visitor to Hotel New Azuma. |

Comments: I had a cockroach in my room, but I think it came in through the window, so best way to handle this is maybe not to open windows.

Comments: Getting here is a bit of a challenge as the hotel is a bit of a walk from the JR station. Since every person has their own room, it is also rare to see others unless they are coming/going to the shower and bathrooms. The staff was helpful and very friendly and spoke pretty good English.

Comments: It might seem a bit far away from the major points of interest (Shinjuku, Harajuku, etc), but it's very cheap to get to those places. The rooms are small, but you don't have to share it, and you get your own TV. I spent half of my stay in Azuma and the other half in another hostel and I regret moving out of Azuma. I had actually called back the day after I moved out, but all the rooms were booked :/ I'd stay in Azuma again.

Comments: For this price a very good possibility to stay in Tokyo. But note, it is not the nearest stay to Shinjuku or Shibuya, if you want to be mainly at this areas. It takes some time to travel by train to the west of Tokyo...

Comments: You get what you pay for. If you are looking for a place to spend some time, look elsewhere, but if you need a cheap place to sleep after a day of exploring Tokyo, Hotel New Azuma is very good.

Comments: It was really nice, they let me borrow a guidebook, and the only thing is that if you are female, request to be on the 3rd floor--that's the one with a ladies' restroom. The 2nd and 4th floor bathrooms are both for the men.

Comments: clearer directions regarding the exit from the train station to the street that leads to the hotel would be great. the train arrrives from nippori in a different part of the station to the south exit..making it quite tricky to find the exit. for people with heavy luggage it would be recommended to take a taxi from the station at minami senju as there is a steep overpass, then the walk to the hotel. also ask for a room on the first floor as there is no elevator, only stairs.

Comments: The rooms are very small, three tatami mats. Also the streets right around the hotel are littered with old men who often are drunk and passed out at night. The place is close to Ueno, so if that is very important to you then its worth staying there. Internet is not free, its 100 yen per 10 minutes.
