However, I did manage to contact the owner and he did organise alternative accommodation for us. One piece of advice therefore: if you book this place - which is in a great little village perfect for a tour of Connemara - call ahead in advance to ensure the hostel is open.

Nationality Stayed Gender Age Group Overall Rating - 7th October 2008 Female 25-30 4/5 Comments: This hostel is quite unusual. First thing: it is NOT in Galway. Is 20min drive away. But the town it's in is also great - by lake, quiet green area and I actually loved it. There are some local pubs but I didn't go, so I don't know how much fun they are. The hostel has a huge garden, kitchen, dining and sitting rooms. All furnishing new and clean. Rooms are in the attic space, so they feel a bit small. When I was there, there was only one staff member and he was a bit hard to find. Bottom line: good place for quiet rest and fishing.

Short walk into the nearest village but besides that you would need a car to get around. Very quite hostel only bumped into a few other people. Recommended if you have your own car and want a quite place to stay.

It is excellent for those traveling by car, and those on there way through the little town of Oughterard.

If you have a car, it doesn\'t matter and I recommend this hostel but if you are just backpacker like me, don\'t go! Bus is only about 9 times(Buseireann+Citylinks) but if you miss 1 bus, you must wait more than 1 hour.

From Oughterards center it is about 10min walk. Good for touring around county Galway and Connemara, use it as a sleeping point. I was around with my parents and wanted to show them different parts of Ireland. Perfect for that. Car is a must. They loved this quiet hostel and its brilliant kitchen.

Aside from that though it's a pretty nice place, in a nice little village. Facilities are good. No lockers or internet, but plenty of rustic charm.
