Comments: hostel owner was nice. House was ok, though musty smell and in need of a paint job. (I suppose I am spoiled by the hotel-like hostels I\'ve been staying in.) Mattress bag of springs. Positive side: bathrooms recently renovated and pretty clean. Kitchen fully equipped, tv room rather comfy and dining area and patio good potential to meet others.

Comments: From my personal point of view, this place is excellent for short-term stays, such as weekends. However depending on which room you rent out. It aint good for long-term stay.

Comments: Good location. Friendly, helpful staff. The hostel is somewhat dilapidated and unloved, and could do with a make-over and a damn good clean. However, the shower stalls in the bathrooms are new & clean, & run plenty of hot water. Kitchen, diningroom & lounge are passable. Could do with new bedlinen, my sheets were old threadbare. All in all, its OK for the price.

Comments: We expect for 35 Pounds/double room a standard like the backpacker Canterbury. But the outside and the inside of the house looks ugly/dirty, an accommodation for homeless person. No towels in the room, but in offer for 50 p.each. For the reserv. backpacker Plymouth we had to pay the full price, not only a deposit. Probably Plymouth backpacker guests, who had carried out only a deposit , look immediately for another another accommodation. My judgement: terribly, dreadfully !!!

Comments: The pillows and blankets were rather dirty and old. It can't be too expensive to buy new ones and paint the walls, which had cracks in them. But then again, the kitchen was well-equipped, location was nice (near the centre and the harbour) and the dining room had a lovely long table.

Comments: Great shower! Thought I would mention that first off because all too frequently the showers in hostels are terrible. Within walking distance to city centre & seaside.Great dinning room & T.V. lounge-comfy couches and roomy. Found the hostel receptionist very firendly & helpful. I think this hostel is good value for the money I paid.

Comments: Not the worst hostel Ive ever stayed at but, definately not the best. None of the doors (especially the bathroom door in my room) had handles. If you dont mind peeling walls, threadbare pillows and strange smells, than this may be the place for you.

Comments: Looks like they had started to renovate/re-decorate and they really should continue with it. Manager was a bit slack in checking people in. Not much to see or do in Plymouth.

Comments: It is an average hostel that did fine for a long weekend. Staff could have been more helpful as we rang to let them know our train was delayed and they said it wasn't a problem but when we got to the hostel it was all locked up and we had to wait for other guests to come along before we could get in. Nice TV lounge

| Comments: My friends and I thought the hostel needed some renovations. The walls had cracks in them and paint and wallpaper flaking off.
The lock in out room did not work by the hostel staff repaired this the same day we reported it. The light switch in our room had a crack which could be dangerous as we could have got an electric shock and the hot tap on the sink in the room rattled noisily when you switched it on.
The staff where helpful and friendly and the location could not be better as right on the town centre. The security was fine as there was a combi lock on the front door. |

Comments: This hostel is in a greaat location, and I guess you shouldn't expect to much for 12 quid. It is full of long termers. It has good kitchen, dining and TV faclities, but isn't particularly clean.

Comments: When I stayed here, the hostel was undergoing some major improvements. It wasn't bad for a hostel even under those conditions, so I'm sure when the improvement work is done it will be great! It's COLD at night in Plymouth and the radiator in my room wasn't working, so that's something to keep in mind.

Comments: Well run and relaxed large house rather than rabbit warrenas hostels can be.Thank you Simon and Paul for good management and friendly assistance.Up a steep hill from train or bus stations - suggest if you have a pack that you take a 25 bus from town which will drop you across the road - you can get a bus outside the railway station as well into town.Recommend to adults as well as traditional backpackers.
