Just ten minutes far from the motorway, 15 minutes from the seacoast and from the magical sightseeing of mount Etna, only 20 minutes far from Catania and 30 from Taormina, I Cedri offers the best strategical setting as a starting point for your travelling around East Sicily while its proprietors are kindly at disposal to their guests for any possible suggestion concerning excursions in that area. Or ... simply you can relax in our large, beautiìful garden.
II Cedri, a neat classical mansion built in the first years of the 19th c., was originally a manor house and, at the same time,the business centre of an old vineyard; it has recently been restored by its owners, the building includes a wide palmento, that is a large space where in old times grapes were trodden and transformed into wine.
Inside the mansion the refined rooms, full of light, with an independent entrance and private bathroom,give into the park enriched by a great variety of Mediterranean plants. During the delicious morning breakfast you will have the opportunity to taste all the flavours typical of the local tradition. lop inside the mediterranean vegetation of the luxuriant garden that encircles the entire construction.
At the first floor of the building, with an independent entrance, the rooms face the garden, along a large balcony, from which it is possible to look at the sea in the distance. The rooms are kept in all details, with a TV and a private bathroom for each one, the furniture is family antique and the pavements are made by the particular Sicilian tile or wood.
It is also available a wide and comfortable room for those who would like to enjoy the well floodlit space of the bibliotheca, provided with a big variety of books: in this place every mornings at the established time, the guests will have their rich breakfast.
Up to the guests, it's possible to have some coffee or various kind of teas, milk, yogurt, homemade bread, fruits of our garden, jam, honey from Etna, or even some local salami and cheese.
For those who would enjoy on the warmest months, it's possible to have breakfast in the garden: a peaceful oasis in which the guests can walk through an intricate pathways, rounded by the fences, enjoying the delicious perfume of roses, lavender, salvia and the peculiar rosemary flavour and the other herbs that Vittoria grow and cares for her special cooking.
Otherwise it would be lovely to take a seat and read some books, in front of the nymphaeas pond or under the bower protected by the Wisteria shadow, or still get pleasure from the sun in total relax laying on the grass, framed by the conifers.

I cedri’ stays at less than one km from the centre of Trecastagni, one of the oldest and most fascinating of Etna villages, at 580 mt above sea level, inside the Mount Etna Park,laying charmingly between the Ionio Sea on one side and the the snowy top of our volcano on the other.
From a geographical point of view, Trecastagni takes advantage from a unique position, mingling the golden sand beaches and the volcanic rocks of the Ionic sea with the majesty of Etna with its green pineries and its snowing picks, often flaming because of the lava eruptions.
Moreover this village takes advantage from its lucky location: just 10 minutes distant from the Highway A18, 20 from Catania, 30 from Taormina, 45 from Messina and only 1 hour from Siracuse and Enna.
The weather conditions are very pleasant: you have fresh air and little windy days in the summertime, because of the altitude, and you can find at least 5 degrees less than Catania; the winter is actually milder than the other mountain zones, thank to the exposure to the sea. |
