The breakfast they put on is pretty spectacular. There isn\'t much to do, but hey you\'re a minutes walk from St Marco Square! Very good location.

The hotel itself isn't anything out of the ordinary, but what do you expect? You aren't paying for anything special. It does have one unexpected bonus: the amazing location. Hotel Astoria is a good compromise between low price and quality.

The staff speak ok English but refused to give any advice on where to go or what restaurant to eat. I guess that's a common thing in Venice where people try to rip you off in every imaginable way. We had problem with the heater on the first night. This hotel doesn't have a safe to store valuable things. However, the location is very good - right behind San Marco Square.

The streets are noisy early in the morning as well. It was a nice place to stay and the breakfast was nice too.

It looked like somebody had unsuccessfully tried to kick it in. We informed the person on the front desk (manager) about the problem and said he'd get somebody to fix it. We stayed there for 3 nights and door wasn't as much as looked at. Quality of accomodation is not that good for the price you pay. The only thing in its favour its the central location.

I was excited to come back, but this time the room was terrible. There were squished mosquitos on the walls, lots of mold in the shower, the shower head did no work well, and the room just felt dirty. I would no longer recommend this hotel, although it is close to Piazza S. Marco.

Our twin room and shared bathroom were basic but serviceable and fairly clean. The smallness of the bedroom, and lack of air conditioning, did make the sweltering July evening heat difficult to bear (as I'm sure is the case in all Venice's budget accommodation), but they did at least provide a fan, which was a real life-saver.

CHEAP phone (3 euros to call the states for 30 mins) and internet available too. i would definitely recommend for anyone going to venice!
