| Comments: Very dirty-we stayed here for four nights and bathrooms/kitchen wasn't cleaned once. The 14 bed dorm was very cramped and no lockers. Bathrooms are shared male and female. Toilet paper tracked down the stairs of the hostel..nice. |

| Comments: I didn't even get to stay there!
I arrived at 9 after flying into edinburgh and found a sign on the door stating that there was no accomodation availible! You can imagine my distress, i was by myself and had nowhere to stay. I was directed to another hotel which was also booked out and i ended up having to pay £129 to stay at the hilton as it was the only accomodation availible! I now had no spending money for my whole weekend. I would really appreciate some compensation for your miscommunication. |

| Comments: One of my favourite hostels the staff are helpful and friendly. When we were there the kitchen was a mess but thats because people wouldn"t clean up after themselves. Not the hostels fault. |

| Comments: A nice-looking hostel, but a bit dirty (lounge floor needed sweeping badly, found crumbs in bed that were NOT mine, etc). My bed was extremely lumpy.
Also, I was a little disturbed that the space in front of the emergency exit was being used to store by piles of junk. Isn't that illegal? What if there were a fire? |

| Comments: 4 reasons not to stay here.1.We booked a 8 bed dorm and got put in a 12 bed dorm.2.The kitchen and laundry are so filthy and discusting, we didnt even cook there. Not worth the food poisoning...3.Security swipe keys didnt work, after going back to the owner 6 times in the 4 days we were there, I got locked out after 11.00pm and couldnt get in until someone else came home, 2 hours later!! 4. Breakfast is crap. |

| Comments: Really happy with our stay, great value for money. As a traveller you don't always expect much from hostels but we were very pleased with our 2 nights at west end hostel. |

| Comments: I had a great stay at West End. The beds were sturdy and the pillows were the nicest I've seen in any hostel. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful. Bathroom was a bit of a problem: very small, not clean, door didn't lock on 1 of 3 stalls. Breakfast is only served until 9:30 so you have to act fast if you want it, not a problem for early risers. Would stay here again. |

| Comments: Good location and the staff were really great. However the bathrooms upstairs were a disgrace and there were a few strange people staying there. Didn't really have a hostel feel as most of the guests were really old.... |

| Comments: It was a secure place. We left our backpacks laying on our beds while we explored and everything was left okay. The final night we were there though I heard a lot of partying and some guy past out in the hall in front of us. |

| Comments: I would have liked to have been informed about the inconvenient construction before I booked. Also the six person room was TINY. I thought it a little overpriced for the way we were cramped in there. |

| Comments: The hostel was located in a very accessible location and was pretty neat and clean. The toilets and showers were good as well. However the only problem i ran into with this hostel was that there were no plug points in my room and hence charging my laptop/camera was a big pain. I feel there should atleast be one electrical point in any room.. |

| Comments: Plus sides: quiet at night, clean rooms and showers. Major downside: we received a really cramped 16-bed dorm, while we had booked a 8-bed dorm! Character & fun: none. A really dull hostel. No real common room except for a room with a couple of chairs for breakfast. Security: fine. There was a luggage area monitored by a camera and card keys to enter the rooms. Free breakfast (but rather poor: 1 bowl of cereals, 2 pieces of toast without topping). |

| Comments: There were no locks on the shower doors and they wouldn't stay shut. Drains were blocked up.
Breakfast was rubbsish. There was nothing to put on the toast.
No power sockets in the rooms. Not good value for money. |

| Comments: It's in a very good position to the main sites especially the castle. I felt very safe here. It was a bit weird having mixed bathrooms sharing with so many people. |

| Comments: Strategic location. Right opposite Haymarket train station (2 mins walk). About 20 mins walk to Edinburgh Castle and Waverley train station.
Key card operated room door. Clean and comfortable bed. Hot shower and clean kitchen. Friendly roommates.
The breakfast included was poor. Each person is limited to 2 slices of bread. Some cornflakes with milk or coffee. |

| Comments: The breakfast was really lacking. There were never any spreads for toast and the coffee pot was too small for the number of guests. There were not enough seats in the breakfast room because of a large pool table which was mostly only used by the staff. If you were a night owl and wanted to read there was no place to sit as the breakfast room was locked. |

| Comments: Very quiet hostel. We were in a 16 bed room and we had the best sleep here out of anywhere we stayed on our vacation. They are very strict about their noise policy! |
