Comments: We would recommend Hotel Tateshina. The place was spotless and they give you a yukata and slippers. The location is brilliant - near the trains and the heart of Shinjuku (but the hotel is out of the noise and the lights). The staff spoke English and were really helpful - they gave us maps and told us which trains to catch. There's a little food place down the road. The free wifi was great.

Comments: Its a Japanese hotel....good beds, good bathrooms, extremely nice staff, they clean up our room everyday with new towels...the con it was the location but Shinjuku Sanchome subway stop is a block from there so you can make connections from there....GOOD PLACE....maybe a little too expensive not being in Asakusa.

Comments: Located not too far from the main Shinjuku area but not too close where it gets too loud. Quiet place but it was hard to find. Look for the sign on the main street.

Comments: Not bad for business travellers. Off the beaten path but not too far to walk to main busy areas of kabukicho and shinjuku station. Very reasonably priced for tokyo!

Comments: Hotel Tateshina in Shinjuku is a perfect stay if you are looking for a good sleep after a long day exploring the streets in Tokyo. It is located within 5 minutes from the train and in an area that is in the middle of all the action. It is quiet and you won't be disturb from outside noises or other loud patrons. The staff were helpful and spoke excellent English! I would absolutely stay here again!

Comments: This is a business hotel, it offers fairly simple lodging for reasonable rates. With that in mind, I thought the place was great. The staff are very helpful and friendly, the location is excellent (central Shinjuku, with easy access to anywhere else through the subway). I'm tall so I was afraid the beds might be japanese sized. They arent. In short, its fairly simple accomodation, but what it does, it does well.

Comments: The staff at the reception counter speaks English, is very helpful with directions and suggestions (e.g., to reserve a seat on the Narita Express train in advance). All in all a perfect location and wonderful service. Free wifi or ethernet connection in room.

Comments: The rooms are small, but what do you expect in Tokyo? The staff are very friendly and speak excellent English, and the location is great, within walking/stumbling distance of the Shinjuku nightlife.

Comments: It is a standard business hotel with all the amenities you would expect, which of course means, that the character of the hotel is not very special. The location is very good, especially if you want to explore the nightlife of Shinjuku. I personally did not need an awesome place to stay, just a convenient, nice, silent and comfortable place to sleep, so I can recommend the Tateshina. To those people who need English speaking staff, this place is also recommended.

Comments: The location of this place is great and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The rooms are small, but for the price and the location, it's not a problem. This is a 'hotel' (and there are several Japanese business men there) more than a hostel, so if you are looking to meet people this is not the place.

Comments: Budget hotel, but if on a small budget then it is definitely value for money. One downside is that the hotel is hard to find so it may be wise to take the location down in Japanese as the taxi drivers didn`t know where the hotel was and also couldn`t speak english. It took us three taxi drivers before one knew where to go.

Comments: Great location. Staff will provide both map of Tokyo plus area map. Rooms are small and basic but Ok and clean. Note that if you stay out till after 1 am you need to ring the bell but it's still possible to get in.

Comments: Decent place for the money here in Tokyo for me (American single). Quite a bit of places to shop and go out to around Shinjuku. This was my first time here in Tokyo and the place was a bit hard to find from Shinjuku Station.... walked and found San (3) Chome station and from there was able to find exit C7 and finally make sense of the map and the chome areas. C7 exit is really close and right by a intersection between 3 chome and 5 chome.

Comments: Reasonable price and staff know english fairly well. You'll be about a ten minute walk from Shinjuku station. There's a Seven Eleven right around the corner. Overall good facilities in the western style rooms, good staff and good location.

Comments: The good thing about this hotel is it is relatively cheap and it is at Shinjuku. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The Internet access is a plus as well. The downside is that is very far away from Shinjuku station - If you intend to go to the hotel from Shinjuku station itself, please ensure you have a map to get there.

Comments: Good location for the price; only 15 minutes from JR and all the restaurants/ bars in Sinjuku. Free internet was a great bonus. The rooms are small and very Japanese, but the robe and slippers were a very nce touch. No hair dryers, so be sure to bring your own. Not really a place for meeting other travelers, the lobby isn't the type of place that people really are meant to hang out in. I would probably stay here again on future trips to Tokyo.

Comments: I will highly recommend this hotel for budget travellers and business people. The location is excellent. It is 5 minutes walk from Kabukicho and 15 minutes on foot from JR SHinjuku Station. You can go anywhere in Tokyo within an hour including walking time. This is a huge advantage in a massive city like TOkyo. However, the hotel is located in where quiet neighborhood starts. So you don`t have to worry about urban noises and neon lights. Do your stuff and just come back for comfort. Although the room is tiny, the staffs speak English very well and they have a lot of experience in hosting foreigners. Main types of the clients are Japanese businesspeople who missed their last train to their suburb home or foreign budget travellers like me. I think that this hotel deserves higher reommendation. I really love this place.
