Comments: Surprisingly quiet... propably the best night sleep I've ever had in a hostel. Bit dodgy not having any locks etc on doors but i think everyone there is quite respectful of that fact. Only issue for me was the bathrooms. only 2 toilets in the whole place and 1 chick stayed in there for 15 minutes (yes, i timed it) doing her makeup. not cool.

Comments: Room far too small, no mirrors just beds. owners cramming as many people in to make as much money as possible. clean beds but the place stunk. no windows with lots of people in one room - horrible. showers warm but manky. only two toilets far from clean. too many rules - can't talk or play music or use hairdryers in the room. shame with a bit of imagination and less greed it could be cool.

Comments: this hostel has the worst dorms i have ever stayed in there is no roof on the ceilings. the dorms had so much light coming into them because there was no ceiling i didnt even need to turn a light on to read. they were also very very nosie and extreamly small. i will not stay there again its also quite far out of town so not to much going for it.

Comments: it wasn't noisy like you'd expect a bunch of rooms divided by drywall in a church to be..and it was pretty sweet sleeping under vaulted celings. it's not too much of a hike into town, breakfast is cheap, and the desk attendants keep to themselves but are friendly enough when you need their help. they don't give you a map to the city and suggestions like some, but edinburgh is easy to get around with out it.

Comments: This hostel was really unique in a church, however - I have doubts as to whether the sheets in this hostel were cleaned properly cos i thought they had bedbugs in the bed i was in and also I had a freezing cold shower, one of the times i was there.

Comments: Very fun place. I messed up the reservation - right day, wrong month, but (after laughing at me) they kindly fixed it and found me something at the same price. No ceilings on room - so you're sleeping under the old church ceiling (really cool). This means you can hear everything outside but no problem - except for staff worker who kept yelling at everyone one night to be quiet - that was louder than the other noise. Otherwise - a great place.

Comments: My room was gloomy, broken furniture & dirty carpet. Heater appeared not to work,so was cold. Checked out after one night, moved to hotel which charged same per night but I had ensuite shower,TV,central heating, high level of cleanliness & breakfast; all included in price. I expect hostels to be basic, as I have stayed in many before but the Belford was not a good experience.

Comments: Although the hostel is a former church, there's nothing sacred about it. The rooms have no ceilings, it is freaking cold and the female showers are the dirtiest thing I've ever seen in my life. You\'re not allowed to drink alcohol in the dorms and the rooms aren't suitable for anything else but sleeping, which you have to after eleven o'clock if you don't want to disturb other people. However, the staff were nice people and always made an effort to help their guests.

Comments: The dorms were too cramped, and they didn't have a ceiling, so someone on a top bunk in the dorm next to you could look into your dorm right over the top of the wall if they wanted to. Also alarms set early in the morning by other travellers in other dorms can wake you up. The hostel is a good 15-20 minute walk from Waverley station, which is a long way if it is raining.

Comments: I liked the idea of sleeping in an old church and the common room was nice and cosy. Three nights at the hostel are more than enough though, as it is quite cold and very noisy at night and in the mornings (due to the fact that there are no ceilings).

Comments: Brilliant hostel. great price. great common/games room. can make lots of noise!!! Beds were comfy and clean. Actual rooms have no roofs so forces you to be as silent as possible. i think this is a great thing as what goes around comes around; slept like a baby! no locks on door or lockers could be only downside but theres a safe at reception. stay here!

| Comments: The staff was very helpful, and over all staying in the hostel was an interesting experience, It was beautiful inside. There is no ceiling which was fine untill some guest were being loud and yelling on purpose. The bathrooms were not very clean even for a hostel.
However, I would recomend, for those looking for a different type of hostel. |

Comments: I loved the concept of a church transformed in a Hostel. I never dough ted that will be really funny to sleep there. My friends that came with me they weren't that happy when they seen the rooms but in the end they loved. Very good breakout area where everyone can have a laugh and enjoy the time spend there and drink. Staff 5 stars. The only thing that I would mention is that the rooms don't have key... I didn't had a problem GOOD FUN. I would go back again.
