Great location, small balcony looking onto the street, one block from Sol Plaza, but no shelf space in bathroom. The only problem is that you had to wear shoes around the room because the tile floor was FREEZING. There was no air conditioning unit so I couldn't tell why it was so cold. Bathroom floor could have been cleaner. It's ok for budget and location but would look for another next time.

We booked in January and got there in May, and they couldn't get us the two triple rooms when we arrived. We had to stay the first night at Castilla I and it was dirty and awful and didn't have a bathroom or toilet. We had to walk there in the middle of the night with our heavy luggage, the staff would not provide a taxi. They promised us not to pay for this room, but when we checked out the boss didn't believe us. He got very angry when we tried to explain the situation so we didn't dare to do anything than to pay every coin. He was very threatening and yelled after us when we left the Hostal.

It is quite place and very close to the city centre. The finishing are not beatiful, but it is very clean and with all the necessities (TV included).

Nationality Stayed Gender Age Group Overall Rating - 2nd November 2007 Female 25-30 1/5 Comments: I have no idea what this hotel was like because when we arrived, we were told that the bathrooms were under repair and that they had made accomodations for us to stay in another hostel 15 minutes away..walking! They didn't even arrange transportation for us to the next hostel. The staff indicated they had tried to contact us but we received no email. As well, when we got to the hotel they had arranged, the room was not what we expected. Not impressed with the customer service at all. Thank goodness it was at the end of our holiday and we were going home soon after.

Nationality Stayed Gender Age Group Overall Rating Belgium 18th July 2007 Male 18-24 4/5 Comments: We only were in Madrid for one night on the way to our homecountry, but this hostel was exactly what we needed after an exhausting backpacking trip of 2 weeks. It had it all: big, perfectly clean rooms, with solid rigid and new floors, decent beds, lots of cousy lights, key card lock for the room, key for the hostel at the fourth floor and key for the gate of the building. There is a working elevator installed which takes you up and down. Staff is very friendly in providing information about the city, where to find what and helping you reserving a taxi or verifying your flight plan over th internet. They even woke us up at night when the taxi arrived, without asking for it. Knowledge of the english language was also a bit tricky, but eventually it all worked out. i will definitely go there again, if the opportunity provides itself!!!

The only small drawback is that noise from the main corridor is easily heard in the room itself but there wasn't so often noise.

I know it's out of management's control to tell customers(especially young party people) to be reasonably quiet at late night. Just thought it might be useful for management to know this.
