Comments: Nothing much negative to say about this place. Budget hotel. It was exactly what we expected. Location suited us but if you're looking to hang out at Khao San Road every day, then staying closer would suit better. But overall we were happy. We've stayed at other hotels in the area where staff spoke a lot better english, which was handy.

Comments: Not a 5 star experience but it has character. It's in Chinatown which means you have access to TONS of great restaurants.

Comments: I enjoy trip Thailand several times with wife. Everytime trip start from your hotel and hope to keep the price and service in today's level. But cleaner room including window lock is the wish from us. Hiro

Comments: Counter staff not friendly. Unable to explain additional charges for in-room coffee/tea packages. Also there was no indication/notice for such charges. I was made to pay a high price without explanation.

Comments: The hotel need more English speaking staff especially the restaurant. The quality of breakfast should improve as there is no choice in the menue, tea/coffee served is very cold ,besides pork sausages there should also serve chicken. The reception staff are very helpful polite and excellent in there services rendered. The bathrooms need to be repainted and shower curtains need to be changed

Comments: This place is a hole. "New" i dont think it has seen a tin of paint in 30 years Its filthy, the staff are useless, barley a word of english and the extra locks on the door are needed to make you feel safe. My clean towel in from the shower had brown stains on it- the manger shrugged his shoulders & only replaced it. (no sorry or discount)The breakfast is unedable & the milk was about 4 days off that i poured into my coffee. My room had dry rot all over the roof and the view, you may as well keep the curtains shut. The Hotel is near the train staion, an area covered in muggers and Theives. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL - IF IT WAS IN THE UK IT WOULD BE SHUT DOWN

Comments: New Empire Hotel was definitely not up to the average expectation. If you are looking for a brief stay at somewhere near the Train Station it's a fine location, but otherwise, i do not recommend the place.

Comments: Neither the website nor the brochure tell you the REAL state of this hotel... False advistment is what I I would use for the brochure's description of the hotel. It looked terrible from the outside, and the inside isn't that much of an improvement. The coffee shop staff totally ignored me when I went in for my free breakfast. After sitting and waiting for any one of the 6 waiters to acknowlege me, I gave up and left with out having breakfast. Since it is not nice to provide an all-negative review, I do think there are 2 things that is positive: 1. The air conditioning works! Keeping the depressing room cool. 2. On the 6th floor (where I stayed), there was a very nice, helpful, and friendly woman who made sure I got hot and cold water, and helped me with my luggage. She IS the saving grace of that place. In summary, I think the hotel can help manage their potential customers' expectation by telling the real state of the place: "We give you a room, with air con and flusing toilets. But it is old, not so clean, and VERY ugly. Hey, what do you expect for 700 Baht? "

Comments: The property was relatively cheap, at about $15 per room per night. However, for the room we were given it did not live up to the "exceptionally good-value superior rooms" description in our guidebook. The room had mould up most of the walls and smelt damp. This may only have been our room, but was our experience, we were looking for something a bit better....maybe we should have paid more?!

Comments: Staff were unfriendly and if i hadnt of booked up for 4 nights i would of definitely left after the first. Walls are quite thin and people are on the move from 6am.Not good if your trying to catch up on some much needed sleep.Taxi drivers did not know where the hotel was.
