Nationality Stayed Gender Age Group Overall Rating Brazil 8th November 2008 Female 31-40 1/5 Comments: The hostel didnt even have a sighn, at first it took a bit of time to find..really dirty, they didnt even have our reservation, I had to look it up on my email to prove I did, found it and then the guy showed us the room, scary, and he made the beds right there in front of us with his shoes on the bed..never saw anything like it...there is no reception only a laptop, anyway, I sure dont recomend it to anyone, serious, run....oh, we did move out the next day...cheers

Good location close to the station and not too close to the loud red light district, but walkable in 5. Staff is brilliant. The guy there waits on u hand and foot and is always there to offer u a coffee, washing facilities and internet. He does the washing for u although u have to pay. Internet is very cheap. U are offered sizeable room and tv. Very happy.

Rooms are pretty small but the owner is really cool and didn't seem to mind me waking him up at 5am because I locked myself outside the hostel in my underwear. Apart from that he was very courteous and the location is indeed the bomb-diggity. Plenty of restaraunts and cafes not to mention the Centraal Station is literally a few blocks away. Would absolutely stay here again, no question. Only downside was no bar or anything where fellow travelers could chill and meet each other, but hey...you're in Amsterdam there's other places for that!

Pas vraiment d'ambiance bed and breakfast, mais plutôt petit hotel pas cher. Reception très sympathique. Bref, chouette logement pour ceux qui veulent visiter et profiter de la ville à moindre prix.Un petit effort de propreté rendrait l'endroit parfait pour le baroudeur des villes.

Nationality Stayed Gender Age Group Overall Rating USA 27th February 2008 Female - 3/5 Comments: I was a little worried about this place because of the previous reviews but was totally happy with it :) Yes, the stairs are pretty steep but being a 19 year old, it was no problem. The manager was extremely nice, but didn\'t have the best English skills, but my boyfriend had a fun time teaching him :) We pretty much just used this as a place to sleep/relax/chill/shower. It\'s only like 5 minutes from Amsterdam Centraal (walking). There is only one shower and bathroom but with 7 rooms we never had any run-ins or issues. Our room was a little small but we could care less because it was still plenty spacious for us. No curfew, about 10 feet to the nearest coffeeshop. Food is everywhere, so are little shops n\' such. Overall, great place to stay if you\'re on a budget, I would definitely stay here again.

The location was fantastic. The only problem was that it was very hot in the bedroom at night - we couldn't open the window or turn off the radiator. The staff were helpful but when we arrived we the guy who showed us our room bullied me into giving him a tip. I didn't appreciate this.

It was doubtful whether the bedding had been cleaned and changed due to the lack of cleanliness elsewhere. The staff are friendly and may clean the room if asked - aside from that it's a nice place with good value for money.

Started off badly as they had sent me an e-mail sending me to an alternative hostel only to arrive there eventually to find it shut - I then rang the A Inn and they said it had been changed back and they had sent me an e-mail but only after I had left for my flight. There was no name on the outside of the hostel to say it was the Amsterdam Inn but fortunately it does have the number on the side of the door. Don't know if it is normal in hostels in Amsterdam but there were no fire precautions - ie. no fire alarms. smoke detectors, fire escapes or plan of fire drills. However it was well situated and compared with the price of the hotels there about half the price.

It is a low key neighborhood with plenty of good restaurants and coffee shops while retaining an old city beauty and feeling. Walking in one direction from the hostel is a residential neighborhood called Jordaan which was our favorite neighborhood in Amsterda. The other direction is toward central station, a three minute walk. So there is easy access to the whole city. The hostel is an old thin building in the typical amsterdam style. The thin, windy stairways are tough to navigate but charming and authentic. The one man running the place is very friendly and helpful. I would definately go back.

The sheets were dirty so, we slept on towels, wearing 3 sweaters each. We had to buy some covers the second nite of our stay, cause we were freezing since the room was so cold. The one and only staff wrote us an email, prior to our stay stating that with taxes, the price will be 133 Euro. When we got there, he asked us for 150 Euro. The place is advertised as a Bed and Breakfest. But there is no breakfest. It's kind of a cheeseburger without cheese scenario. We found some dried up feaces next to the bed. Need less to say that the floor was not up to acceptable standards of cleanliness. We wanted to change hostels, but the staff asked us to pay up front, so we were not able to get our money back. We loved Amserdam, and for sure, we will go back. Unfortunatly, we will not go back to this hostel for obvious reasons. There are many other hostels in this location. go to any other one. Good luck and have fun travelling!

Room was not ready on time, not clean when I first saw it. I had to request for the room to be cleaned. A few items in my bag ended up missing from around that time on my journey and possibly from the Amsterdam Inn. The staff was friendly up front but devious behind my back. The rules were not laid out clearly and from this the manager tried to get more cash from me when I checked out.
