Comments: Hotel Solomou was in an old and shady part of town with two bars right next door, with people drinking and pissing on the streets as early as noon. This is "hot property" as it is in the central part of Athens, though right? The Metro was just a few blocks away and the Archaeological Museum was walking distance as well. In regards to the hotel itself, though old, has been renovated and updated. It is not five star, but it is clean, quiet (in my room anyhow), includes breakfast, and has an elevator!! When I stayed over, there were tons of students traveling in groups as well as elder couples. In regards to the staff, the man at the counter didn't seem very friendly, but was in fact very helpful. We were afraid we were going to miss our flight back to the States and he did his best to get us taxis in time for our flight. All in all, it was a pretty good deal for the cost.

Comments: Solomou hotel is located in a very perfect place to visit Athens, is very clean and the staff very kind; the only problem is that in the district (Omonia Square and surroundings), you must be prepared to find some alcoholics and drugs addictes, so It can be a little bit scary or feeling a bit unsafely, though we didn“t have any problem at all.

Comments: Cheap but nice hotel, although it's located in a bad area of the town. I didn't feel safe at night.

Comments: Great reception by the staff! They were all very friendly. Since I arrived after 2 am, it didn't feel very safe walking around the neighborhood. Overall, nice place to stay for the money.

Comments: Walls very thin. Staff extremely helpful. However booked a double bed and were given a twin. overall - probably too expensive.

Comments: amusingly helpful and eccentric staff... on arrival and at breakfast. Free fold up Athens pocket map complete with verbal/pencil tour. Gracious offerings of croissants and eggs. Ultimate care taken with hotel remote controls :?) Room fine.

Comments: Great cheap little hotel just off Omonia in Central Athens. Stayed 1 night either side of our Greek Islands holiday. Staff were very nice, helpful in every way. A very good option if wanting private rooms rather then a dorm bed at a very good price.

Comments: The air conditioner did not work very well, so I would not recommend this place if you will be staying in the summertime and the sheets were extremely starchy and uncomfortable.. It was fairly close to the metro though.

Comments: The food at breakfast, whilst plentiful, was mostly stale and this was a disappointment. The ho9tel is also located further than the 150m from Omonia Station as advised on the website. Otherwise, we were happy with our stay.

Comments: We stayed at Hotel Solomou for two nights at the end of our two week holiday in Greece, and it was a highlight of the trip, mostly because of the characters that run it. Although we arrived in the middle of the night, the day before our reservation, the staff did their best to fit us in and look after us. The guys on the front desk were happy and friendly and ever so kind. From the hotel, it's easy to get to the Acropolis area (about a 10 minute walk), and it's a minute from the metro. I thought it was good value, too. Two weeks prior to our stay at Solomou, we stayed at another hotel that was twice the price and half as good. The rooms at Solomou are clean and well kept, and the brekfast is better than we'd had elsewhere too. If we went back to Athens we'd stay there again.

Comments: Hotel staff are great and friendly. The rooms are clean, spacious and have TV and AC. Breakfast is decent and its close to omonoia metro station - the area is a little seedy but all good. Great value for money.

Comments: Located north of Omonia square. This area is not the nicest but we found no problems walking on the streets at night. It is a block away from the National Archeological Museum which is a must see and a 10-15min walk to the Acropolis. The walk includes passing a fruit market and a meat market.. and eventually you will end up near a flea market area before hitting the Acropolis. The staff were friendly and courteous and never seemed to sleep. It's a fair drive to the airport (35 Euro cab ride at night when there is double tarriff). Not much to do at night near the hotel.

Comments: The hotel was very clean and the staff very nice, but the street to go there from Omonia Square attracts the wrong sort of people... But I just stayed here for one night...

Comments: I enjoyed a very good time in Athens at the end of Septemper 2005. The facilities of Hotel Solomou are just what you need: the quality and price are well balanced. The location is perfect next to Nathional Museam and Omonia metro stations. There is a short walk to buss stops. All the major interests like Acropolis, National museum etc are in the walking distance from the hotel. I would stay there again.

Comments: Ideal place for a short stay in Athens. Clean, great bathrooms and very central - easy to find. Not a hostel but a great value hotel. Definitely recommend.
