Comments: Very close to Plaza del Sur without being too close and suffering from noise. Very clean, due to tiled floors and halls, but this also meant sound travelled through the hotel; and doors close loudly. Sensitive ears might need to be wary; or just have earplugs. Towels a bit threadbare. Overall: quality.

Comments: the directions to the hostel aren`t very helpful... think they should be more clearer as there were to exits from the SOL metro station

Comments: We had reserved two nights and we got there and decided we only wanted to stay one, but they refused to refund us. It was so bad we ended up just leaving anyways and paying the extra money to stay somewhere else. This place was not very clean, the staff were very unpleasant, and it was very old.

Comments: I liked this hostel for the mere face it had air conditioning. So many of these kind of places don´t and it was relativly cheap at 40 euros a night. There is also free internet access and one of the porters speaks very good english. It´s literally around the corner from puerta del sol as central as you can get in madrid. It was a little dirty though and my sheet had a hole in it.

Comments: Large but basic room- all we needed for sure. Perfect location right in the centre of everything. A little noisy with street noise, but we had the door open most of the time since our A/C wasn\'t working. But a good place to be based in Madrid.

Comments: a hotel rather than a hostel. Weird key arrangement, where you just leave your key in a box by the reception, that really anyone could take.

Comments: As a hostel, Castilla II provided very clean and an excellent location in the dead centre of Madrid, Sol. I've stayed in a number of hostels in Madrid and I would say it was at the better end of the market. But be warned for those not familiar with Spanish hostels in that area, rooms tend to be very small and lack windows, due to architectural design. To be fair in the summer months you will be happy to get out the midday sun. Staff were fine and bedding and rooms cleaned daily.

Comments: La prima notte abbiamo dormito in una camera ricavata in un corridoio e senza finestra, l'indomani siamo riusciti a farci spostare....consigliamo quindi di chiedere espressamente una camera con finestra!Il personale comunque è stato gentile.

Comments: Our stay in Castilla ll in Madrid was a dissapointment. The heater/airco was broken, the shower was broken, on of the lights in the bathroom was broken, after 10 o'clock in the morning there was no hot water in the shower, there were woodlouses in the bathroom, the beds were too hard and too short. We stayed 3 nights, but had to pay for 4 nights because of some national event!! When I asked a memeber of the staff why, she pretended not to speak english (but she spoke english to some other people). In short: very bad service and I'll never go to this hostel again!

Comments: Very charming old building in the heart of the old city. We could walk everywhere and since we were there on the National holiday, it was a lot of fun to be with the Spanish people celebrating Columbus's "discovery" of America.

Comments: We had our own room and bathroom, so that was great. We arrived around 12 pm and they said our room wouldn't be ready for another hour and a half. Once we returned, we had to wait another 20 minutes for the guy to get off the phone and give us keys to our room. Not only was he on the phone when we arrived, but he proceeded to make additional phone calls before helping us. His English was decent, the female employees were friendlier. We had to keep our window open for air flow and it was kind of loud at night. Location was great- a block away from Puerto del Sol. Recommend this place as long as the nighlty noise doesn't bother you.

Comments: Excellent situated, 75 metres from Sol metro station, nice rooms, comfortable beds, we had an automatic AC which couldn't be turned on and off from our room, instead from the reception which was a pain in the ass and holes in our sheets... Otherwise it was fresh and a good stay!

Comments: Something simple can damage my impression of this Hostel...like my nail clippers were missing after the cleaner had been! Overall a clean and quiet place to chill out, absolutely great location and I thoroughly recommend it. Has only one computer at other location.

Comments: The character of the hostel is sweet in a vintage Grandma' kind of way. There's a security lock box in your room, but I thought it was a pain in the butt to hand in your room key everytime you left. The location is cool, right near Puerta del Sol. There's zero fun to be found in this hostel. And I wouldn't say it was super dirty or super clean.

Comments: The security was kind of questionable . . . you leave your room key on a shelf in the middle of the hallway beside an open door and there are no lockers or anything in the room. Amazing location. Nice bathroom. The staff who worked at night were amazing, the woman who worked in the morning was heinous.
