The gate is locked until 5pm, so don't expect to check in earlier. Leonardo DaVinci's house is a must see! I would stay here again.

Amboise is a fantastic place, definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Hotel La Breche is located just slightly out of town - but very close to everything. The meal at the hotel on our last night was also very, very good. All in all highly recommend.

The dinner was the best deal we found in France; 16 euros for a great appetizer buffet, a good choice of main dishes (and good) and a dessert buffet. An inexpensive bottle of wine and we were set. The dining room was very nicely decorated.

The hotel was very cute and comfortable. It was a little bit out of town, so no restaurants in walking distance, but we didnt find that a problem.

He offered sugestions and even gave free books and maps to use to gain a knowledge of the areas. He suggested things to see and also was very good in the kitched preparing French food for Dinner.The breakfeast were great as well. We stayed at 22 different places on our 2 month tour and this was one of the best and friendy.

Dont let the outside intimidate you... It may appear to be just a train station hotel but it is sooo much more. As soon as you turn the corner into the hotel you are surrounded with such character and kindness. Hotel La Breche is ran by a man and his wife who both were soo accomodating, answering any and all questions. Dinner was included in our nights bill and was one of the best experiences we've had so far. Christian was our server and we assumed Lisa was doing all the fabulous cooking (i think thats her name... i am soo sorry if it isnt). The rooms were perfect with a great view of the cute back yard. All around i will recommend this to any and all who plan on passing through Amboise.
