We were a bit disappointed when we arrived to find it was one room with four singles beds. The bathroom was also a little dirty, but the people were friendly and the breakfast was great.

This was not a problem. The hotel was lovely and clean. Very quiet which suited us. This was not a hostel it was a small hotel in a quiet area, at a cost of £90 per night for 2 with continental breakfast. Walking distance from main attractions. Thank you.

However, the hotel is basically on top of one of Edinburghs busiest and noisiest pubs/bars, so don't stay here if you want a quiet nights sleep. We managed to get a quiet room on the third floor, but most rooms would be very noisy.

I booked it from Dublin for my parents as a surprise and the staff done absolutley everything to help me out. I would thoroughly recommend staying with them. My parents had a wonderful time here & loved all the staff - good work guys - keep it up. Everything from correspondence, to payments, to unusual requests were responded to immediately & from the first point of contact I had 100% in the Ballantrae that I had made a good choice. WILL DEFINETLY RECOMMEND YOU GUYS TO ALL FUTURE FRIENDS TRAVELLING TO EDINBURGH.
